Thank you for visiting tenapu.com, the home of one-of-a-kind needle felted creations by fiber artist Jamie Wallace. The site is currently under construction; but if you have any questions or would like to be added to our mailing list, please email us at info@tenapu.com. 2007 Demonstrations and Classes: DEMONSTRATIONS: CLASSES:
Introduction to Needle Felting Project: "Bitty Birds" (pictured at right) Learn the art of sculpting with wool. Using loose wool fibers – such as are used for spinning – and individual felting needles, create a whimsical three-dimensional sculpture. Unlike conventional “wet” felting, this craft is completely water and soap free. Unlike other types of soft sculpture, there is no sewing involved. With just a few inexpensive materials, patience, and the basic skills taught in this class you can create almost anything you can imagine. Instruction will include creating basic shapes, constructing your figure, and adding finishing touches. You will also receive a resource list of online suppliers so that you can continue to explore this addictive craft after the class. All materials are provided, and each student will take home the supplies and tools they need to create a new project at home. DATES, LOCATIONS, and FEES: Tuition for all locations is $50 per person and includes all materials and snacks. About Needle Felting For those of you unfamiliar with the craft, needle felting is an art that anyone with some patience and the ability to hold a needle can enjoy. The materials are simple and inexpensive. Both the medium and process are wonderfully forgiving, allowing the artist in each of us to experiment and have fun.The process itself involves rolling or folding loose, carded wool into roughly the shape you would like to create and then "punching" the wool repeatedly with the needle. The tiny barbs on the needle catch the individual fibers and lock them together. The longer you "needle," the firmer the shape will become. Contours and details can be added by layering on additional wool. Limbs and other appendages are made separately and then needled to the main sculpture. Decorative details and accessories provide the final, personal touches to each creature. And that's all there is to it! Once you learn the basic skills, you will be able to create almost anything in your imagination…AND have something at hand to help you wile away the rest of the winter season. P.S. If you are interested in the workshop, but the dates or times of the scheduled classes are not convenient for you, I am available for private workshops as well. Please feel free to email me for additional details. Please feel free to contact me at jamie@tenapu.com for more information on any of the above events. Happy Holidays!
